Introducing the Core Set of the Cards for Democracy Series

Pascale Mompoint-Gaillard

Many of you, dear readers, may already know our Cards for Democracy. Up to now we had a pack for teachers and education professionals. These cards have been well received and used in many training events to reflect on and develop democratic practices in formal and nonformal education contexts.

We are happy that our members have had the opportunity to download them and use them in their classrooms in schools, universities, NGOs and teachers’ associations.

The news today is that we are ready to issue a NEW PACK that will now become the ‘central’ pack of the Cards for Democracy series. It is a tool to develop competences for democratic culture to be used by anyone in any context:

It all starts with me!

What are my values? Are they democratic?

Do I practice my values or am I a living inconsistency?

What are the democratic values that are identified as important by others around me?

Are the practices, actions and behaviors of actors in my community in line with these values or not? How so?

What needs to be done to change any inconsistency?

We will unveil this new tool in an online LIVE event to which we invite you:

In this event we will present the Cards for Democracy and some activities they may be used for facilitating learning in the classroom and elsewhere, with young and older learners (students, family members, coworkers, etc.).

We hope to meet many of you there! Here’s the LINK.

In the meantime, if you have any questions or comments about the Cards for Democracy, feel free to leave a comment below.

In this article, we talk about what we mean by Collective – the new form chosen by L2C – and how you can join it.

Learn to Change is launching an exploration: Announcement for the Collective

Learn to Change’s members held a General Assembly in fall 2022, in which the decision was taken to transform the association into a less formal, and more agile entity. Therefore, we will change status, going from an ‘organization’ to a less formal entity that we name “The collective”
